We’ve previously explored how creativity can positively impact the well-being of residents. And what better time to be inspired than during the festive season? Crafting gifts, made with love, not only offers a joyful way to spend your time but also holds sentimental value for the recipients. That’s why, with December around the corner, we’ve put together some gift ideas to spark your residents’ creativity and spread festive joy.
Painted Tea Lights
You will Need:
- Glass tealight holder
- Paint
- Brushes
Method:
- Water down the paints
- Paint the inside of the tea lights with the paints. Tip: you don’t have to be too precise about it, play around with the colour combinations.
Collage Bookmarks
You will need:
- Rigid card
- Any unwanted magazines, brochures, etc.
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Hole punch
- Yarn/ribbon
Method:
- Cut out a bookmark shape.
- Cut out or tear any imagery or text from the magazines you would like to use.
- Arrange these onto your bookmark and then stick them down with the glue stick.
- Punch a hole at the top for the yarn/ribbon.
You can then tie a simple bow, or this tutorial shows you how to make a tassel with the yarn.
Candy Cane Stirrers
You will need:
- Candy Canes
- Chocolate chips
- Any toppings such as mini marshmallows, candy cane bits, sprinkles
- Baking parchment or wax paper

- Once melted, use a spoon to carefully spread the chocolate onto the end of the candy cane.
- Put some your toppings onto a plate and then dip the now chocolate coated candy cane into them to decorate.
- Hook the candy cane onto a big bowl to dry.
